As of now, I have visited Holy Spirit Hospital multiple times at Mahakali Caves Road, Andheri (East), Mumbai. Each time the hospital service was good with respect to OPD for General Surgery, E.N.T., Neurology, Gynecology, Pediatric, Orthopedic & Arthroscopy section. Also 24x7 Emergency / Casualty, Diagnostic center, and Gastroenterology / Endoscopy were quite good. In terms of cleanliness, quick response from nurses, doctors and other staff members, it was excellent.

In last 10 years, OPD revisit fee has been increased from Rs.20 to Rs.50. First time visitors are charged more as it involve registration fee as well. That’s fine with respect to quality of service provided by experienced doctors and nurses. In Gynecology section, I believe Dr. Susan Sodder is best. Perhaps she is one of the best Gynecologist in Mumbai. Her private clinic is in front of Canossa Convent school near the hospital. Private OPD charges are more may be around Rs. 300 to 500 based on doctor consultation fees and additional patient treatment charges. In General Surgery and E.N.T sections, I believe, Dr. S. M. Shah and Dr. Allan Soares respectively are very good. No doubt, other doctors are also good. In some situation, these experience doctors are unavailable or behind schedule due to ongoing surgical operations. In some scenarios, assistant doctors are atleast available. All patients are addressed and no one goes unattended. In case of unavailability or delay, people can get the update at inquiry counter besides OPD registration counter no. 55. It has been observed that in Neurology and Endocrinology OPD section, patients are overcrowded. The reason might be these OPD are not on daily basis or may be Neurologist and Endocrinologists are less.

I have seen an underprivileged person undergone couple of critical surgeries and medical treatment free here. Hence I think Holy Spirit Hospital management help poor people and provide medical treatment free or charge nominal fee depending on patient’s financial condition. Nearby Church’s Holy Father and Sisters perform daily prayer and visit patients in morning. They wish them for good health. I have seen this at couple of occasions in maternity section where new born babies need extreme care, good health and God’s wishes. During Christmas season, you will be surprised here to see some good decoration and creative celebrations on each floor. Small children enjoy these beautiful works and feel inquisitive of Jesus.
